Barb Martin, Clinic Coordinator for The Center for Marriage & Family Therapy and Counseling and Placement Coordinator, is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), and an Approved Supervisor of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. Not only does she coordinate the on-site clinic that services over 1,000 families per year, but she also serves as one of the MFTC program’s supervisors in addition to teaching courses particularly related to the students’ clinical work.
One of Barb’s specialties is clinical work with children in a therapy setting, and she has done significant work in the area of “play therapy” which she teaches in the program in order to equip the MFTC students to interact with children in a family system. The Governor of Mississippi recently appointed Barb to serve a term (2006-08) as a member of the Mississippi Board of Examiners for Social Workers and Marriage and Family Therapists.
