RTS Jackson is pleased to announce the upcoming MFTC Conference on Christian Counseling, September 29-30. Dr. Daniel Sweeney, our keynote speaker, will be presenting on the Neurobiology of Childhood Trauma and Expressive Therapies. His workshop will include an exploration on the neurological, developmental, and psychological benefits of play, art, and sand-tray therapies for traumatized children.
MFTC faculty members Dr. Bill Richardson and Dr. Jim Hurley will also give presentations. Dr. Richardson’s topic is “Ethical Issues in Multicultural Counseling with Couples.” He will elaborate on the uses of Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) with intercultural couples and pre-marital therapy with African Americans. Dr. Hurley will review current and historical concepts of and research into forgiveness, further exploring applications within individual, marital, and family therapy.
The conference will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Sept 29-30. The cost is $175 for early registration (before Sept 15), $195 for late registration, or $50 for full-time students and pastors. RTS has applied for 12 CEU hours, including 4 ethics hours.
