Dr. Reggie Kidd contributes to The Baker Illustrated Bible Commentary

Dr. Reggie Kidd, professor of New Testament at Reformed Theological Seminary’s Orlandocampus, has contributed the editorial commentary (26 pages) for the Pastoral Epistles (I and II Timothy, and Titus) in The Baker Illustrated Bible Commentary released March 1 by Baker Books. This 1636 page book is beautifully illustrated and easily understandable.

The commentary, which is a complete revision of the well-known Baker Commentary of the Bible and edited by Gary M. Burge and Andrew E. Hill, “is a nontechnical, section-by-section commentary on the whole Bible that provides reliable and readable interpretations of the Scriptures from 43 leading evangelical scholars.”

Kidd earned a Ph.D. in Christian Origins from Duke University and has taught the Greek language and New Testament classes at RTS Orlando since 1990. The editors of the new Baker commentary say, “All the writers for this commentary are technical scholars in their field. They all have a knowledge of the original language of the text and have studied it extensively; many have already written elsewhere on the same material that they address in this volume.”

Kidd's principal concentration in New Testament teaching is the Pauline epistles. He has published on the Pastoral Epistles in monograph, article and review form; has contributed to the Disputed Paulines Group for the Society of Biblical Literature; has presented papers on the Pastoral Epistles at SBL and the Evangelical Theological Society, and is developing a series on Paul’s teaching through Third Millennium Ministries.
