A LETTER FROM THE CHANCELLOR
The Lord has accomplished much through the ministry of Reformed Theological Seminary in its short 40 years, but the opportunities for us to serve Him in the future are unparalleled. As we consider the turbulence of our current society and the effects of cultural forces upon it, we are all too aware of the effects of sin and the need for the gospel. In light of this, the need has never been greater for the faithful preaching of the Word of God. We at RTS believe the seminary is positioned for increased global impact in the days ahead—preparing greater numbers of church leaders, expanding the effectiveness of our ministry training, and extending our reach to those the Lord has called to ministry by providing flexible, accessible theological education developing our extensions into full campus and establishing additional extensions..
Having known personally the founders of RTS, I saw their hearts and was affected by their vision for preparing godly, faithful leaders. They understood that it is the gospel of Christ that is able to pierce the hearts of men. God has blessed their efforts; through His hand and the ministries of RTS alumni, many have been won to the Lord, transformed by His purifying power and equipped to train His disciples worldwide. The body of Christ needs qualified, spiritually mature leaders who will commit their lives to the gospel, faithfully preach the Word of God, and develop ministries full of God’s grace. During 20 years in pastoral ministry I served with numerous RTS alumni. And as an RTS student, and now as chancellor, I have experienced firsthand the quality of RTS students and the faculty who teach them. I thank the Lord for the deep commitment to serve Christ characterizing those who are, and who have been, part of this seminary throughout its history. We appreciate our heritage, and with our eyes focused on the future, we are excited to see what God will do in the years ahead to help us build on that legacy. Our commitment to build for the future is the reason why we have undertaken this Seminary Planting Financial Campaign. The resources we seek will provide for a solid financial foundation for RTS’ ministry. It will address student and faculty support, meet our pressing need for facility and technology improvements, and enable us to provide ministry training to those who otherwise would not have access to sound theological and pastoral training. RTS will be better enabled to equip future leaders who are committed to the advancement of God’s kingdom. The goal is ambitious. The challenge is great. But the Lord is able. We trust Him to provide, through our friends and partners, the resources to do His work. The resources we receive during this campaign will allow RTS to build a firm financial foundation and to take advantage of our many opportunities to serve Christ and His Church in the Third Millennium. As you read the following material, please prayerfully consider the part you might play in the future of God’s work through RTS. We will be happy to provide you with any additional information you might need and we would be pleased to discuss your estate plans with you to help determine how these plans might play a part in this effort as well. For a new Reformation now and with the joyful hope of the New Heavens and New Earth to come, Robert C. "Ric" Cannada, Jr.
