 God makes himself known in his word and world. Through Christian Education the people of God discover, appropriate, and propagate God’s revelation of himself. A faithful Church strives for practical means to master God’s self-revelation and impart it to others. At RTS, the Christian Education department provides future shepherds with resources for equipping the flock, while fueling a passionate hunger for God to fulfill in them and those they teach the prayer of the Savior, “that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent” (Jn. 17:3).
One cannot treat Christian Education as a peripheral ministry because it involves more church members than any other ministry in the church. Any church that focuses on Christian education equips disciples with a keen knowledge of God, as he is revealed in his Scriptures, and with the necessary skills for competent service.
Christian Education aims directly at sanctification – growing believers in holiness. Properly prepared leaders in this field will invite the people of God to saturate themselves in the Scriptures under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, so they become more Christ-like, ready to live out their faith in the public square.
