RTS Student Cabinet
President: Roy Hubbard
President’s Welcome
“We read thee best in Him who came to bear for us the cross of shame; sent by the Father from on high, our life to live, our death to die. We read thy power to bless and save, e’en in the darkness of the grave; still more in resurrection light, we read the fullness of thy might.” - Horatius Bonar, O Love of God, How Strong and True
In speaking of God’s grace and mercy to sinners, Horatius Bonar proclaims the person and work of Jesus Christ as the greatest expression of God’s love. Indeed, all of Scripture testifies to the Christ as the One who would save His people from their sins and bring restoration as far as the curse is found. It is the vision of Reformed Theological Seminary to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ to a world that longs for redemption. It is our purpose and passion to tell the world of the Savior who came not for the righteous but for sinners, and who uses these very same broken, sinful people to bring honor and glory to Himself.
As a particular expression of the body of Christ and community of redeemed sinners, our hope (the Student Cabinet, faculty, and staff) is that we would be those who are ever mindful of God’s grace and love to us in Christ, a love and grace that binds us together. The apostle Paul in his letter to the Philippians after imploring his readers to be of the same mind, to have the same love, and to be in full accord and of one mind with each other, then goes on to give them this grand and glorious illustration: “Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” What an expression of service! We, too, are called to be those who love and serve one another out of reverence for Christ.
With this call in mind, we, the Student Cabinet, desire to build upon and strengthen the community and fellowship here in this 2007-2008 academic year. We are here to serve as representatives of the greater RTS Jackson community and encourage you to share with us in this vision by telling us your ideas, concerns, requests, etc. Our hope is that we all would be those who are made more and more to look like Jesus and demonstrate the love of God in our love to one another. Below is a list of Student Cabinet officers; we look forward to hearing from you.
