RTS Student CabinetRTS Student Cabinet President: Geoff Gleason
Greetings! It is a privilege to serve you as your Student Cabinet President for the 2010-11 school year. God has truly blessed RTS Jackson with great staff, faculty and a student body from all sorts of walks and backgrounds. I remember clearly, after arriving at RTS in June 2009, being impressed with how diverse the body of Christ is and yet we are all joined together in that common bond of faith. Scripture tells us clearly that, whatever our background, our outward actions as Christians will reveal a common purpose: And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Col. 3:17, ESV) Our life is not to be lived indistinguishably from the world sharingtheir purposes and objectives, but it is to be lived in thanksgiving for the completed work of salvation and through the power of the Holy Spirit. As students of the seminary, we ought to reflect that truth more clearly than anyone else. It should be part of our studies, fellowship, family life and church life. As the Student Cabinet, we simply seek to help you in fulfilling that goal in whatever way we can. Our responsibilities to you are mainly in three areas:
Communication We represent the student body to the school’s administration. Sometimes the different spheres in which we operate allow us a different perspective than the administration, and we can help them and work with them to continue to shape RTS Jackson as an educational institution.
Judicial The effect of sin is felt in all of us and none of us are beyond falling into the gravest of sins. Should that happen to someone in the student body, it would be our task to represent you in the judicial process.
Student Life The biggest part of the Student Cabinet’s responsibility is to help shape student life and facilitate the social events that bring the RTS community together. These events are a great way to meet your fellow students and the faculty in a different environment. Those moments of fellowship are remembered fondly by many students. It is our goal to fulfill these tasks according to the mandate of Colossians 3:17. As your representatives, our job is made easier if you let us know what is on your mind. Please feel free to find me or any other member of the cabinet and share your ideas with us. Together we can work at serving our great God and Father in His kingdom with thanksgiving for the work of redemption completed by Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit.

This year's Cabinet has decided to front load events in order to establish community before everyone retreats into hermit/monk mode around midterms when community tends to be reduced to status updates on Facebook.
