Dr. Mark Futato serves as Robert L. Maclellan Chair of Old Testament.

Dr. Futato received his Ph.D. from The Catholic University of America. He has published five books: Interpreting the Psalms: An Exegetical Handbook, Joy Comes in the Morning: Psalms for all Seasons, Transformed by Praise: The Purpose and Message of the Psalms, Creation: A Witness to the Wonder of God, and Beginning Biblical Hebrew. He served on the translation team for the Book of Psalms in The New Living Translation, contributed study notes for The Spirit of the Reformation Study Bible, and contributed to The New International Dictionary of Old Testament Theology and Exegesis. He has also written numerous articles and currently has one book under contract for publication. Dr. Futato was a pastor from 1983-1988. In addition, he taught for eleven years as professor of Old Testament at Westminster Theological Seminary in California.

Mark and his wife, Adele, have four children: William (23), Evan (21), Mark Jr. (19), and Annie (14). Adele is a Middle School Guidance Counselor for the Seminole County Public Schools in Florida. Will is a Firefighter/EMT for Oviedo Fire and Rescue. Evan is a Firefighter/EMT for Seminole County Fire and Rescue. Mark Jr. is studying to be a linguist in the Air Force. Annie is in eighth grade at Millennium Middle School. Mark's outside interests include the beach and motorcycles.
