Bacote to Lecture on Race Feb 1

The African American Leadership Initiative will sponsor two lectures by Dr. Vincent Bacote on Monday, February 1.

12:00 pm, Patterson's Porch
"Doing the Long Take on Race"
This lecture emphasizes the need to resist turning away from the difficult realities and challenges that continue to face the church and encourages Christians to see how addressing these matters is not optional.

1:00 pm, Dean's Center Classroom II
"Making the most of difficult legacy: Traveling with Kuyper"
This lecture contends with the challenges of Kuyper's views on race, and answers the question "why would you use the label 'Kuyperian’?"

Dr. Vincent Bacote serves as Associate Professor of Theology and the Director of the Center for Applied Christian Ethics at Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL. He is the author of the The Spirit in Public Theology: Appropriating the Legacy of Abraham Kuyper (2005) and The Political Disciple: A Theology of Public Life (2015).
