Degree Programs

RTS DC offers three degrees at this time as well as a 30 credit-hour certificate program. While we are increasing our daytime course offerings to accommodate those who seek to study full time, RTS DC's location in the nation's Capital has contibuted to our desire to present courses in a variety of other flexible formats (weeknight, weekend, and one week intensive classes). This allows civil servants, other professionals, as well as those serving in full-time ministry to enhance their ability to serve in their local church as well as their place of employment.

M.Div. program: The M.Div. curriculum is designed to offer training for the pastoral ministry. It is typically completed in 3 or 4 years. At RTS DC, the student has the opportunity to take elective courses in systematic theology, biblical studies, and practical theology. It is a 106 semester-hour program.

M.A. (Religion) program: The Master of Arts program provides concentrated study in Theological studies. It is designed to strengthen the religious basis for one's life and work whether in a secular career or a church staff position. It is a 60 semester-hour program typically done in 2 or 3 years.

M.A. (Biblical Studies) program: This 66 credit hour degree program integrates biblical, historical, and theological studies with cultural and social concerns. This degree program emphasizes biblical studies. It is designed to strengthen the religious basis for one’s life and workwhether in a secular career or a church staff position. The English Bible exam is required.
Certificate program: The Certificate program is a 30 credit-hour program designed to be completed in 1 year for personal edification or to meet the requirements of mission agencies or other supporting agencies.

Special Student Status: Those who do not plan to immediately pursue either a degree or a certificate can apply for special student status. Students admitted under this status may take up to 18 semester-hours. Credits can be applied to a degree program if the student chooses to apply.
