Christ Centered Preaching - 1.00 Hours

STUDENTS PLEASE NOTE: YOU WILL MEET FOR CLASS ON MONDAY, MARCH 5th FROM 5PM-9PM and TUESDAY, MARCH 6th FROM 8AM-5:30PM. This course addresses communication principles for pastors and biblical teachers with an emphasis on preaching philosophy, textual exposition, sermon and lesson structures, and delivery styles. Written and oral, verbal and non-verbal communication principles are included. A particular emphasis will be the way in which the grace that pervades Scripture and culminates in Christ affects textual interpretation and teaching application.

Pastoral Counseling - 3.00 Hours

STUDENTS PLEASE NOTE CLASS WILL MEET AS FOLLOWS: JULY 9-12 FROM 8AM TO 6PM EACH DAY. An overview of current trends in counseling theory and practice and the role of counseling in public, private and church settings. Basic counseling skills taught in this course include interviewing, assessment, and therapeutic listening in a laboratory situation. Application is made to premarital, family crisis, grief and substance abuse counseling, with emphasis on developing strategies and applying scriptural principles.
