RTS is pleased to announce the launch of the Hughes Scholarship as a part of the Hughes Initiative for Pastoral Excellence.
For Summer and Fall 2017, RTS will begin the process of awarding more than 30 Hughes Scholarships to incoming residential students in the Master of Divinity program. These scholarships will be available at the campuses that offer the MDiv program: Jackson, Orlando, Charlotte, Atlanta, and Washington DC.
A Hughes Scholarship is a full-tuition scholarship. The total value of each scholarship will be in excess of $55,000 for the 106-hour MDiv program. In addition to 100% tuition, the Hughes Scholarship provides a $1000-per-year book stipend (up to $3,000 total) for recipients to build their library while in seminary. The book stipend will be available through the seminary bookstore.
The goal of the Hughes Scholarship is to gather and help prepare the most promising of those called to pastoral ministry. Through an education designed to shape both mind and character, this scholarship will enable life-on-life training to equip the next generation for Gospel ministry in the Church.
“In today’s world, pastors need more preparation for ministry, not less. And they need it of the highest quality. The Hughes Scholarship will enable those who couldn’t otherwise afford it to join us for rigorous, face-to-face, theology-in-community, residential preparation for ministry. To be able to fully scholarship tomorrow’s leaders for the entire MDiv program is a massive gift, not just to those students, but to the Church.”
